Whether it’s a wedding, engagement, birthday, or BBQ, having refreshing cocktails with friends is usually a must! Planning a party of any kind takes a ton of time and effort and the last thing you probably want to do is serve your guests at your own party.

Have you ever thought about hiring a traveling bartender? I’m one and take it from me, it’s a great idea. You’ll thank yourself later!
You might be thinking, why would I need to hire someone just for an event in my own home? This is just one of the things that are probably crossing your mind at the moment but I am here to explain my top 5 reasons why you need to hire a traveling bartender for your next event!

Reason 1. Liability

Let’s just go ahead and get the technical one right out of the way. This reason is my least favorite but like all things, we need to have our affairs in order. The best way to be prepared is to have all your bases covered and by hiring a traveling bartender you are taking that liability off of yourself.

A traveling bartender should carry catering and liability insurance. They also will have some sort of certification such as RAMP. The certification means that they know liquor laws and how to communicate with guests who’ve had too much to drink. You’ll want to make sure that they have this in place before hiring them.

Looking into a private event insurance plan on top of this is always a great idea! I recommend Wedsafe! They insure all types of events and give you peace of mind at a great price.

A traveling bartender will never serve those under 21 and will feel confident and comfortable asking to see ID for guests who they feel look under legal drinking age. This is wonderful! Now your great aunt Shirley doesn’t have to sit closest to the bar and eyeball young Johnny who just went to the can display for a soda!

Reason 2. Personalization

A good traveling bartender knows how to not only create and pour great drinks but also can offer some advice on what kinds of cocktails are popular.

When you are hosting an event you should want your drinks to not only look good but taste good too. You should feel pride in your menu and that it was created just for your event!

Your guests will see the personalization and they will be rushing home to plan their next event and hire their own personal bartender!

And who said all the fancy cocktails had to be alcoholic? There is nothing worse than going to a bar and asking what drinks they have besides alcohol and then staring blankly back at you realizing they don’t have any.  Who has been in this situation before? It sucks! But that ends here!

A great traveling bartender won’t miss a beat and your mocktail will look even better than those cocktails everyone is walking around with! They won’t even have a clue!

Reason 3. We Get Down and Dirty!

If planning a party wasn’t hard enough the last thing that you want to have to do is keep replenishing the drinks. Your hands will be cold, your clothing wet, you’ll most likely be struggling with all sorts of half-empty boxes that your significant other promised to put in recycling but never did. No one wants to do that! Think about it…. Right?

When your traveling bartender shows up, no matter the event type or location, they will ask where your stash is, and depending on your desired bar location they will have it stocked and ready to roll before your event even begins.

The best part? You’ll have a custom cocktail in hand before your guests even arrive and at this point, you’ll need it so cheers!

Reason 4. They brought all the things you forgot!

In my own company, we always provide a few things that our clients would never want to. These common items are small details in the grand scheme of an overall event but are staples when creating the perfect libation station!

To spare you the boring details, just ask your traveling bartender what they provide. We always include cups, straws, napkins, utensils for creating and opening drinks, extra trash bags, and ice.

Again, say it with me, no one wants to lug around the ice! My wedding couples this one is especially for you! If you are hosting an event at a venue check with them to see what all they provide.

If you need to purchase some of these extras yourself I’ve included a few links below from my most frequently purchased Amazon Cart! These are all items that I use and recommend and come in handy when hosting an event!

Reason 5. Convenience!

If the first four reasons haven’t convinced you to hire a bartender for your next event then let me just recap! Your time enjoying your event is worth its weight in gold! Hiring knowledgeable, reputable, and responsible special event staff such as traveling bartenders makes a huge difference in how you will spend your time at your next big event!

You may not realize this but depending on event type, timeframe, and location, hiring a traveling bartender is very cost-effective for the convenience and peace of mind it will afford you during your event!

A traveling bartender should be responsible for the setup and breakdown of the bar station as well as tending it during the event. Most times this will include, picking up any trash around the property and leaving it better than they found it.

This is huge not only if you are renting a venue that needs to be cleaned but also if this event is at your own home and you don’t want to wake up to a sea of cups scattered throughout your lawn or pool area!
